Remote Pilot / Commercial Drone Operator

The Role

We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Drone Operator to join our team. You will be responsible for planning and executing complex Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) missions, ranging from building inspections to aerial cinematography to land surveying.

The ideal candidate isn’t just a “pilot”, you are a technical problem-solver who understands the UK’s regulatory landscape and can deliver high-quality data and imagery to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Flight Operations: Safely pilot multi-rotor or fixed-wing UAS in various environments (urban, rural, and industrial).
• Mission Planning: Conduct thorough pre-flight site surveys, risk assessments, and airspace checks using tools like Dronedesk or SkyWise.
• Compliance: Ensure all flights adhere to CAA CAP 722 guidelines and the company’s Operations Manual.
• Data Management: Capture and process high-quality RAW imagery, 4K/8K video, or LiDAR/Photogrammetry data.
• Maintenance: Perform routine pre- and post-flight equipment inspections and maintain detailed flight logs.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Obtain necessary permissions from NATS, local councils, or private landowners where required.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

• GVC (General Visual Line of Sight Certificate): A valid GVC is essential.
• CAA Flyer ID & Operator ID: Must be current and valid.
• Flight Experience: Minimum of 200 logged flight hours in a commercial environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Experience with DJI Enterprise and ground control software.
• Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to remote sites.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience with post-processing software (e.g., Pix4D, ArcGIS, Adobe Premiere Pro).
• Holding an Operational Authorisation (OA) from the CAA.
• Night flying experience and thermal imaging certification.
• Background in Engineering / Surveying / Media Production.
